A quiet and calming tone hums within this 60’s built council maisonette. Through careful redesign and simplification CBY have designed a rewarding space for living.
Downstairs, separating partitions between the kitchen and living-room were removed, making a large open modern live/dine/work space, while relocating the bathroom. Playful combinations of colours were used; the terra-cotta reds of locally sourced London plane cabinet handles and Viroc splash-back; set against the neutral tones of a Portland cement worktop and slaked lime walls; and the browns of oak cabinet doors and ash window frame. The kitchen was redesigned to fit this new layout. An internal window connects it to the hallway where a wooden screen on the stairs takes your eye up to the ceiling making the space feel taller.
Upstairs, walls and floors were re-finished and the bathroom continues the theme of modern simplicity.
